We’ve had a lot to take in the last couple of days. Dylan Voller testified to receiving calculated, sustained abuse over several years while in youth detention. Other voices at the NTRC have demonstrated that he’s not the only one. Not just the Commisioners in Darwin bare witness.
The community met on the lawns by the Uniting Church on Human Rights day. They listened to speeches, poetry and live music. The message came out clear: Human Rights = empathy. Human Rights = listening to and learning from our history.
