Justice For Youth gathering as Royal Commission resumes

What: “Justice for Youth” Gathering out front of Royal Commission Hearings, Alice Springs locals concerned about youth incarceration, including Dylan Voller, his family and supporters
When: 12pm Monday 13 March 2017
Where: Alice Springs Convention Centre
This Monday there will be a gathering outside the Convention Centre, as the Royal Commission on Youth Detention and Children in Protection resumes hearings.
Appearing in Alice Springs this week will be some of the prison officers from the Alice Springs Youth Detention Centre.
Tasker will be one of these officers. Footage showed on ABC 4corners shows Tasker hitting Dylan Voller, however the Supreme Court found him not guilty.
Anna McCauley the local Shut Youth Prisons group, said “As long as there is no accountability there will be no moving forward from past errors.”
“Historically, Royal Commissions have done little for the people they are supposed to serve. Will this Royal Commission be any different? Or will taxpayers be paying for yet another inadequate response to systemic injustice?” said Dr. Hilary Tyler, also a member of the local action group.
